Heart Health...

Cardiovascular disease still kills more people than all other diseases combined. It is the #1 killer in North America. Cardiovascular disease is commonly divided into three categories: heart disease, high blood pressure, and stroke. Fifty years ago there were relatively few who suffered heart attacks before the age of 60. Today, it is not uncommon for the victims of heart attacks to be in their mid 30's.

Having a healthy heart and circulatory system is something many of us take for granted. If your heart beats 70 times a minutes, that translates to 4200 times an hour and over 100,000 times every day.

High blood pressure is one of the body's most noticeable red flags to indicate that a person's heart and blood vessels are in trouble. Once a person is diagnosed with high BP, he or she is seven times more likely to suffer a stroke, four times more likely to have a heart attack, and 5 times more likely to die of congestive heart failure. On the positive side, there are well-proven ways to control blood pressure and even reverse some of the damage already done.

What is high blood pressure? Blood pressure is the force exerted by the heart on the blood as it moves through a person's arteries. If a person has high blood pressure, this means the heart is pumping harder than it should have to pump. A healthy blood pressure would be 120/80 or lower. Most doctors consider mild high blood pressure to be around 130/90. High blood pressure would read 160/100 or higher and is considered to be dangerous.

Heart disease, high blood pressure and stroke are all related to the body's circulatory system.

In a stroke, or "brain attack" the brain tissue is damaged due to a lack of blood flow. The lack of blood can be caused by a blood clot in an artery that has decreased in size because of spasm or atherosclerosis. It can also be caused when a brain (cerebral) artery leaks blood as in a leaking or ruptured aneurysm.

One natural way to support the cardiovascular system is to insure adequate intake of antioxidants. My favourite way to add antioxidants to our diet is by drinking noni juice every day. Morinda citrifolia, also known as noni, contains scopoletin, which has been scientifically proven to dilate blood vessels resulting in lower Blood Pressure. A second reason that people use noni for high blood pressure is that this fruit juice from Tahiti helps stimulate the body's production of nitric oxide, a chemical which allows the blood vessels to dilate more easily and be more elastic. The third reason may be through the xeronine system that promotes a healthy cell structure within the circulatory system.

Dr. N. Solomon, MD, PhD "surveyed 1,411 people who drank noni juice to help with their high blood pressure. 85% reported their blood pressure decreased. Of the 1,643 people who took noni to help their symptoms of heart disease, 78% reported lessened symptoms. Last of all, of the 1,391 people who took noni for help with their stroke symptoms, 55% reported that it helped."

In a heart attack, there is not enough nutrient rich oxygenated blood to nourish the heart muscle cells. As a result, some heart muscle cells die. When enough die, you have a heart attack.

A heart attack can be sudden, as a result of a cholesterol/calcium/fibrin clot to the coronary artery, or an embolus, which is a clot that breaks away from another part of your body and ends up clogging your coronary arteries. Another scenario would be if your coronary artery goes into spasm, preventing adequate blood flow, or you can have a small unstable plaque released that goes toward the heart and clogs the coronary artery as well as puts it in spasm. The end result of all these conditions results in not enough nutrient rich oxygenated blood to sustain heart muscle.

The coronary arteries act as pipes bringing blood and oxygen to the heart muscle. Over time, they may become partially or completely clogged with fatty deposits (plaque) within the vessels. Plaque build-up restricts blood flow forcing the heart to work harder. Atherosclerosis is the progressive narrowing of arteries that precedes heart attacks, strokes and gangrene.

What is plaque? It is a composition of fat, cholesterol, minerals, metals and other substances. It is bonded together by calcium and becomes a cement-like compound. Research has suggested that chlorine and free radicals cause a plaque build-up. The nutritionally weak North American diet may be the real culprit. Too many years of eating food full of sodium and fat undoubtedly have contributed to the problem. What is plaque? It is a composition of fat, cholesterol, minerals, metals and other substances. If you were told today that you had clogged arteries, what are the options available? This is a very serious question because ignoring this condition could result in a heart attack, stroke, or sudden death.

Coronary Bypass Surgery

Usually a vein from the leg is transplanted to bypass the clogged portions of the heart. This procedure does not rid the arteries of plaque so a person may need more than one surgery.

Balloon Angioplasty

A tiny balloon in inflated inside the artery, which can restore blood flow to the heart. Angioplasty, like bypass surgery is not intended to cleanse all of the arteries. It is designed to reopen individual clogged arteries.

EDTA Chelation Therapy

This is a method of cleansing the arteries by infusing a synthetic amino acid called EDTA into the arteries. This is usually done in a doctor's office. The amino acid travels through the blood vessels and removes deposits of calcium and toxic metals that help to form plaque. The kidneys filter and remove these from the body. It has generally been successful, although people often require 20 or more infusions to get the desired results.

Oral Chelation

The benefits of EDTA Chelation can also be obtained through Oral Chelation. A full potency combination of vitamins, minerals and other target nutrients work together to stimulate the body to build extra supplies of an enzyme called Lipoprotein Lipase. This enzyme acts as a detergent to soften and dissolve the plaque on the arterial walls thus increasing the blood flow to the cells. The removed plaque is treated in the same manner as food and is filtered through the liver to be reused again by the body. It does not put extra burden of the kidneys.

Oral Chelation benefits every blood vessel in the body, from the largest to the tiniest capillaries and arterioles, most of which are too small for surgical treatment or too deep within the brain and other vital organs to be safely reached by surgery.

Why Use Supplements?

Most people are well informed about the importance of vitamins, minerals, and herbs to their health. They know that poor diet, stress and environmental pollutants all contribute to the depletion of nutrient levels in their bodies.

Most people don't know that some medications can reduce absorption and even cause depletion of vitamins, minerals and electrolytes crucial for good health.

Studies have shown that Asprin and other NSAIDs can cause depletion of vitamin C, folic acid, zinc and iron.

Diuretics can cause a loss of potassium, magnesium, and B vitamins.

Blood pressure medications can deplete zinc in the body. This can lead to decreased immune function and wound healing, and can cause insulin resistance and sexual dysfunction.

Cholesterol lowering drugs can deplete Coenzyme Q10. CoQ10 is essential to heart health. Scientists have estimated that once body levels of CoQ10 drop below the 25% deficiency levels, many health problems begin to flourish, including high blood pressure, heart attacks, angina, immune system depression, periodontal problems, lack of energy, weight gain, and even early death! A 75% drop in CoQ10 levels is fatal.

My mom often said that an ounce of prevention was worth a pound of cure.

So if an apple a day keeps the doctor away, what would it take to avoid a heart surgeon? Perhaps a good vitamin, mineral formula that provides the benefits of oral chelation. Add to that a diet high in fiber and with some omega-3 oils (canola, flax, fish) but low in processed foods and hydrogenation hardened oils. Keep a good lifestyle --don't smoke, control your weight, exercise and manage stress well-- and we will improve our general health and prevent or help heart disease.

I recommend that people who require maximum cardiovascular support use both the noni juice and a good oral chelation multi-vitamin/mineral supplement.

Noni Juice is most easily absorbed by drinking 1 - 2 ounces three or four times a day before meals. Read more about people just like you who have benefited from this amazing juice.

I am currently recommending a vitamin-mineral supplement that has proven to be very helpful for many people. Doctors suggest that you take 10 tablets a day for at least three months. After that they recommend that you drop to 3 - 6 a day. They recommend that you repeat the 3 month program once a year.
